Permission to be ourselves

The first principle when we think about when we brainstorm a game is what mechanics can we put into the game that will allow people to be more of themselves. To think and strategize, to the play the game that fits their personalities. Are you a risk taker or risk averse. Do you take an aggressive strategy or are you more passive and opportunist. Do you want to take a supportive role or be the head. Different games allow you to do that to different degrees but I think the funnest games is when it’s really when your personality can come out and play.
I hope our games can provide a space for us to go beyond the casual and cordial, freedom to be expressive, creative, explore and not ask for permission to be ourselves, while embracing others doing the same.
